Metamorphosis is a project that explores the possibility of portals in the living environment and the process of human and more than human bodies changing within them. I am exploring the arduous, yet quiet journey of introspection. Change unveils in the inertia of shedding skin, forming feathers, and re-growth of dying branches. In each image, I distinguish a difference in my habitual perception and see a glimpse into a potential destination. My eyes adjust to infinite possibilities. I cannot readily see a shift, but instead, feel the sensation of something changing. My senses are clouded waiting to be disturbed. A reflection is not merely a mirror image, but a glitch unveiling the literal. Portals live amongst us in plain sight. The piece of writing that inspired the title of this project is Metamorphoses a Latin narrative poem published in 8AD by the Roman poet Ovid.
Thank you to all the wonderful people who are diving into portals and sharing with me your personal journeys. Some creators of note are Julia Hayes Siltzer, Jordan Ellingwood, and more to come.
